Is your Facebook business page reaching and engaging users? Use Facebook business page statistics, called Facebook Insights, to find out.
Find a link to this data, visible only to page administrators, on the right, and also in page tabs. You can find it too when you click Edit This Page.
Data Tracked in Facebook Insights
Key summary data includes:
- Insights: page post details, individually and by post type (post, photo, link, video, queston, etc.)
- Likes: demographics and location of people who liked your page, and where they came from
- Reach: demographics and location of who you reached, and how you reached them, how frequently
- Talking About This: the demographics and location of who is talking about your page, and how they are talking about it (likes, stories, mentions, etc.)
You can identify the demographics of page viewers, including gender, age, country, city and language.
Interpreting Insight Data from Your Facebook Business Page
David Hartstein has written an excellent post entitled How To: Get the Most Out of Facebook Insights for Small Business, which provides examples of the above and suggests how to interpret them.
Key points from this post are:
- Use daily page activity to measure user engagement.
- Updates that get Likes and comments suggest preferred content topics.
- Media statistics give insight into user preferences.
- Tab views suggest strong and weak sections of the page.
